The philosophies in Star Trek are kinda part of the actual setting. If you don’t get that, why are you allowed to make Star Trek movies.

Sigh. The whole point of Star Trek is that it’s philosophical. If you don’t want philosophical Science Fiction, there’s plenty of that for you to enjoy, but Star Trek is philosophical. Philosophy is part of Star Trek’s DNA, and if you’re given the captain’s chair, you’d better damn well respect that.

I recently reluctantly upgraded my Whitney rating from * (“I hate it) to *** (“I like it”). It’s pretty entertaining, though it still has its mind-numbingly absurd moments (and I mean in a stupid way, not like Beckett, or something). And look, that guy is wearing that shirt, the one Adam wore on our first date and the one Joss Whedon wore while shooting Much Ado About Nothing. That hunky teenager on Subergatory also wore it once. It’s a good shirt. My sister gave me a girl version and I wear it sometimes when I want to look sporty.

I like cast parties and beautiful Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man cakes with delectable fondant-and-rice-crispy-treat arms.

I also like custom made t-shirts depicting memorable lines from past plays.

I also like it when the white board outside the theater gets changed from saying, “Private Cast Party” to “Private Cat Fart.” That was pretty funny. I wish I’d remembered to take a picture.

The Pill focuses on several well-dressed New Yorkers of varying degrees of horribleness and successfully reinforces the “chicks be crazy and mean; dudes be stupid and insensitive” stereotype (but only when applied to white people, I think). If Netflix allowed half stars, I’d rate it 2.5, but since it doesn’t, the movie gets 3 whole stars, which means I officially begrudgingly “liked it.”
